Privacy Policy

Overview

residex.io ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how we handle information when you use our tax residency tracking application.

Information We Don't Collect

There is no account, no sign-up, and no copy of your travel history on our servers.

Everything you enter into residex.io — your trips, dates, destinations, notes and preferences — is stored exclusively on your device using your browser's local storage. We have no access to it, and we never receive it.

We do receive a small amount of anonymous usage information, described under Usage Data below. It contains nothing you typed in.

Local Storage

Our application uses browser local storage to save your:

• Home country setting
• Frequent destinations
• Trip records (dates, countries, categories, notes)
• Theme preferences

This data only leaves your device when you choose to send it: saving a backup file, moving your data to another device, or handing it to a partner service. Device transfers are encrypted with a code only you hold — the server relaying them cannot read their contents.

You can erase everything at any time from Settings, or by clearing your browser's local storage or site data.

Usage Data

So we can tell whether the app is being used and whether it is working, residex.io sends us a short signal on a few occasions: when someone finishes setting up, when the app is opened (at most once a day), when a trip log reaches its first, tenth and fiftieth entry, when data is handed to a partner service, and when the app crashes.

These signals contain only:

• A random identifier generated on your device, which is not linked to you and is not derived from your device or your data
• How many trips are in your log — the number only, never the trips
• How many days ago the app was installed
• Whether you have finished setting up
• Whether you are on the web, iOS or Android, and the app version
• The language the app is displayed in
• Your home country and frequent destinations, sent once when you first set up
• How many passports and permanent residencies you declared — the numbers only, never which countries

They never contain your name, your email address, or any trip: no dates, no destinations, no notes. Erasing your data in Settings also erases the random identifier, after which your device is indistinguishable from a new one.

Third-Party Services

We may use the following third-party services:

• Google AdSense: We may display advertisements through Google AdSense. Google may use cookies to serve ads based on your prior visits to our website or other websites. You can opt out of personalized advertising by visiting Google's Ads Settings.
• Analytics: We may use privacy-respecting analytics to understand general usage patterns, alongside the anonymous signals described under Usage Data above.

Cookies

Our application itself does not use cookies. However, third-party services like Google AdSense may set cookies. You can control cookie preferences through your browser settings.

Data Security

Since your data is stored locally on your device and not transmitted to us, you are responsible for the security of your device. We recommend:

• Using a secure, up-to-date browser
• Protecting your device with a password or biometrics
• Regularly backing up important data by using our CSV export feature

Data Deletion & Your Rights

You can delete your data at any time. The steps depend on where the data lives:

• Data on your device (trips, home country, settings): this never leaves your device. Delete it instantly and completely from within the Residex app (clear your data in the app) or by uninstalling the app — we keep no copy.
• Contact-form data (your name, email address and message): if you have contacted us, email info@residex.io from the same address and ask us to delete your data. We will remove your name, email and message from our inbox and from our email provider (Brevo) within 30 days.
• Analytics (Google Analytics): we collect only aggregated, pseudonymous usage and device identifiers. These are retained according to Google's standard retention period and then automatically deleted; you can also opt out using your browser settings or Google's opt-out tools.

We do not retain any data that personally identifies you beyond contact-form messages, which are kept only until you request their deletion.

Children's Privacy

Our service is not intended for children under 16. We do not knowingly collect information from children under 16.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page and updating the "Last updated" date.
